"We seek to use lively minds, to work hard, to develop all our talents and to grow through sharing."Record Breaking GCSE PerformanceThe 2010 GCSE results at Caistor Grammar School are "tremendous and outstanding" said a delighted Headmaster, Roger Hale. 91 students broke many long-standing School records. 100% of students achieved 5 A*-C passes including English and Maths. This is the fourth time in the last five years that Caistor Grammar School has reached this feat. This follows last week's ranking of the School at 21st in the country at A level in the Independent newspaper and completes a splendid year. A Level Results are SmashedOverall the School's A level results are exceptionally good and they have smashed a new series of School records. New School records include the average point score (APS) per candidate which is 35.9 (it was 34.8 in the previous record set last year). Headmaster Roger Hale was highly delighted with the results achieved, thanking all the students for all they had contributed to Caistor Grammar School over recent years. Please note the Awards Evening is scheduled for Tuesday 21st September. This is always a special occasion to mark the achievements of our present and past students. Wold WalkThere can be no doubt this years annual wold walk was another great success for the school. This course spoils the participants with beautiful views of the Wolds at its best, through fields of crops ready to harvest and lovely green rolling hills . Although there were tales of shoes losing their soles and many students suffering sore feet, all participants covered the course with big smiles at the end of the day. Sports DayThe newly-crowned nine times Sports Day champions Hansard have pulled off another victory at King George V Stadium. Despite holding the champions title for the past 8 years, Hansard faced fierce opposition to achieve a ninth. Pictures have been uploaded to Flickr, click here > to view. Primary PE Festival Is A 'Sunny' Success!Students in Y9 and 10 hosted around 80 Year 1 and 2 Primary aged students for a 'potted' sports festival. The Year 1 and 2's attempted events in running, jumping and throwing; working with their classmates in teams and competing against the other schools in attendance. The sun shone and the children were cheerful and enthusiastic throughout their events, with Osgodby Primary being crowned champions. Very well done to our sports leaders who 'dared to lead' - and did so very well. Literacy Picnic9X enjoyed a literacy picnic in July in the New Hall, the cloudy/rainy weather prevented an outdoor event. Pupils cooked, baked and packed picnics in sophisticated baskets, dressed in authentic clothing. They then enjoyed an hour and a half of sheer fun listening to readings whilst eating their cucumber sandwiches. Year 9 visit Beth ShalomOur visit to the Beth Shalom Holocaust Centre gave Year 9 pupils a chance to explore the history and implications of the Holocaust. After a visit to the Memorial Museum and a view of the Memorial Gardens, pupils listened to a seminar given by a survivor of the Holocaust, Freda Wineman. A very interesting day in which pupils left the centre clearly moved by the experience. Thanks must go to Mrs. Nugent Head of RE for arranging this visit. |
